Windows
This year, larger windows with less framing were very popular. Allowing for a more open atmosphere, these windows not only brighten up the room but also make it feel much larger than it actually is. Many people also chose to change up the window design with black framed windows. Quite opposite from the traditional white framed window that we are used to seeing, the black frame windows give a more modern and sleeker look.
Doors
From barn doors to the more modern stile doors, there were a variety of trends. However, one of the most popular trends remained to be natural wood doors. The natural wood doors give any style of door a unique finished look.
Cabinets & Shelving
This year a variety of cabinet styles were used. With more people moving towards minimalistic designs, open shelving and open frame cabinets became quite popular. Shaker cabinets remained popular and provided a modern yet simple look. Another minimalistic design that was a popular choice were slab cabinets. This type of cabinet has a minimalistic look with a modern twist. In 2019, colored cabinets became extremely popular with people painting natural wood cabinets different, brighter colors.
Home Color
As for external trends, many people improved their homes by adding pops of color. Unlike what we have seen in the past, many people added color by mixing light and dark colors into their siding, shingles and garage doors. Grey siding became a fan favorite in 2019 as its easily incorporated with a variety of colors ranging from white to blue and even darker woods.
